Here is a whole little forest that never needs watering: rows and rows of pieced pine trees, each one cut from a different holiday print and standing at its own jaunty angle. The colors are Christmas through and through, deep pine green, cranberry and barn red, warm tans and inky blacks scattered with berries and blossoms, every tree popping against a soft cream background with tiny red cornerstone squares winking at the corners like little ornaments. Scrappy and merry, it reads like a family photo where no two trees quite match and that is exactly the charm. Over the top rolls the Circle Drama quilting, big overlapping loops and orbs (swirling circles that bump and layer into one another) tumbling across the whole quilt and softening all those crisp triangle branches. Ash gray thread keeps the circles quiet and smoky, a gentle shadow that lets the trees stay the stars. A cheerful evergreen crowd.
