Hundreds of tiny squares have linked arms and gone dancing across this quilt. Little postage stamp patches in 1930s style prints (cherry red, robin's egg, navy, rose, sage, and a whole lot of tiny florals) chain together in wide diagonal bands that zigzag corner to corner, each chain edged in sunny butter yellow like a picket fence after a fresh coat of paint. Big cream diamonds sit quietly in between, leaving plenty of room for the quilting. Kristin's Easy Baptist Fan fills those spaces with nested arcs (rows of curved lines stacked like the ribs of an old church fan), fanning across the chains and the open cream in overlapping rainbows. It is a classic old fashioned finish, and it suits these prints to a T. Cream thread keeps the fans soft and glowing. Happy is the right word.
