Black, white, and every gray in between: this quilt is a winter night wearing a tuxedo. Strips of crisp prints (inky florals, leafy sprigs, polka dots, marching ants, and a parade of tiny ladybugs) stack into tall herringbone peaks, while strings of on point black squares dangle between them like icicles dripping off the eaves. A silvery gray background with fine white speckles keeps everything cool and frosty, and down in the deep charcoal section the icicles flip to pale gray. Champagne pops all over the top: bubbles in every size, from tiny fizz to big round ones, rising along long swooping lines like somebody just opened a bottle at midnight. The bubbles float right over the peaks and puff up the solid areas into little domes. Dark gray thread sketches them clearly on the silver and sinks quietly into the charcoal. Cheers to the cold.
