Here is a quilt that bleeds maroon and gold, and it is not shy about it. Golden Gopher blocks, all little Goldys and Block M's and MINNESOTA spelled out in that unmistakable University of Minnesota crimson, march across the top in a bold checkerboard with squares of pure buttercup gold between them. It reads like a Saturday in the fall: loud, cheerful, and proud. Then the quilting rolls in with the Meander pattern, a happy wandering of rounded, puzzle-piece curves (soft loops that bump and nestle into each other like river stones tumbling downstream) that flows right over the seams and ties the whole checkerboard together. On the plush gray backing the meander really shows off, every curvy path puffing up in relief so you can trace it with a fingertip. Cranberry thread stitches it all, sinking into the maroon and glowing warm against the gold. A cozy quilt for a devoted fan.
