A Quilt of Valor built around a dramatic center panel: three bald eagles rendered in soft grays and steely blues, wings sweeping through a starry sky with the flag rippling red, white, and blue behind them. Frames step outward from the panel like a salute, first a crisp black border, then a band of sunrise yellow, and finally a scrappy stars print pieced into a sawtooth edge that points out in every direction like beams. Over all of it, the Ginger Star quilting travels in natural white thread, big open loops that swirl and drift, dropping a five pointed star here and there as if the whole night sky came unpinned and floated down onto the fabric. The looping stitches soften the panel's bold edges and let the eagles feel like they are still in motion. Made to wrap someone in thanks.
