This shop sample packs a whole lake weekend into one quilt, all in the cool colors of morning fog on the water: slate blue, dusty denim, fog gray, inky navy, and warm cream, with little pops of golden mustard like the one patch of sun that finally breaks through. The prints are half the fun, a scrappy campout of vintage travel trailers, canoes and rowboats, fish skeletons on the line, birch forests, and ferns with peeking birds, all pieced into big blocks split by bold diagonals so the eye zigzags around like it is paddling from one campsite to the next. The quilting is the Dragon Wings pattern, dragonflies with soft rounded wings darting between loopy organic swirls (fluid shapes that ripple like bugs skimming a pond), and it shows off beautifully on the map-print backing. Steel gray thread keeps it all calm and misty. A quilt that smells like a campfire.
