Forty two blocks, forty two little stories, and not a single one repeats. This sampler is a scrapbook of 1930s feedsack prints: Sunbonnet Sue in her bonnet, a Scottie dog in polka dots, a Dresden Plate, a Grandmother's Flower Garden made of tiny hexagons, a Double Wedding Ring, tumbling blocks, pinwheels in bunnies and dancing clowns, and a basket of pointy flowers that looks ready for the county fair. Soft lilac, rose, butter yellow, robin's egg, and leafy green keep it sweet, and a braided border of skinny scraps wraps it all up like the ribbon on a hatbox. Meandering 1 wanders through the cream sashing and right across the blocks in loose, loopy curves, a lazy afternoon stroll that ties all forty two neighbors together. Cream thread keeps it gentle. An heirloom in the making.
